Pumping up the volume

Berkshire-based records management specialist AMS Ltd. has been able to grow its business and add new clients with the deployment of production scanning solutions from ibml

Archive Management Systems Ltd. (AMS) is a leading records management company providing secure archive scanning services. Founded in 1977 in the Thames Valley, AMS has an outstanding reputation for reliability, security and confidentiality when providing archiving solutions to individuals and organisations in both the private and public sectors.

The business solutions offered by AMS generally fall into two main categories - Archive Document Storage and Bureau Document Scanning - covering a full range of records management services. Committed to delivering world class archive management services, their clients include NHS departments, doctors, law firms, charities and financial organisations.

A TRUSTWORTHY SOLUTION
AMS began their search for a solution to replace the company's aging scanners. Having been to see ibml's ImageTrac and being impressed with the speed at which it could capture documents, AMS picked ibml's ImageTrac as their scanning solution.

"I arranged for my directors to come and have a one to one demonstration and they were blown away by the machine", stated Paul Sumpter, Sales Consultant at AMS.

Based on the volumes currently being put through their old desktop scanners, AMS would be able to achieve the same throughput with the ibml ImageTrac, but now in a significantly reduced timescale, giving them the opportunity to use the spare capacity to add new clients.

With a long, rich history of document processing, ibml's ImageTrac platform is designed to handle everyday, real-world business documents and accelerate the management of business processes; it is not a device transformed from micrographics or from copier technology. The ImageTrac hardware is designed to focus on smooth paper-handling, ease-of-use, and production-oriented document imaging. Patented camera technology and image enhancement capabilities built into the system provide the best images possible, improve ICR read rates, and minimise back-end exceptions.

MULTIPLE BENEFITS
There are specific benefits for a service provider such as AMS, as Paul Sumpter explains: "It has allowed us to look at our margins and go for jobs we would not necessarily go for before. We have always provided a level of service that allows for stringent checks on all documents scanned, we will therefore be able to still do this with a scanner that allows us to increase throughput by up to 5 times the amount previously scanned."

The ImageTrac scanners selected by AMS have over 20 years of experience in high-speed document scanning built in to their design. The open track allows for full visibility and access to documents throughout the scanning process. This makes jam recovery quick and simple while maintaining full batch integrity.

Paul Sumpter concludes "The ImageTrac platform has allowed us to redeploy one of our scanner operators saving us costs straight away. It has also allowed us to increase our throughput on most jobs, for example one desktop scanner was producing 4-5k images in a morning shift and last week we produced 25k in the same time."
