The Cheshire and Merseyside PSN connects public sector partners across the region, including councils, schools, police forces, hospitals, and fire & rescue services. The network now facilitates greater collaborative working, shared services and service transformation throughout Cheshire and Merseyside.

The force joins partners Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council and schools in the region which have already signed up to Updata’s fully-managed wide area network (WAN), which provides high speed connectivity to over 500 public sector buildings.

The WAN helps organisations achieve significant cost savings, improved resilience and higher security for their networks. Cheshire Constabulary has estimated that joining the CMPSN will help it achieve savings of £117,000 per year.

“Closer collaboration in the public sector is essential for police forces, as they look to create efficiencies by working with third parties across all sectors, from fire and rescue services to councils and the health service.
