| The monthly Markit/CIPS survey of purchasing managers in the construction industry is consistently reporting increased confidence levels in the industry, reflecting figures hitting a seven year high in both residential and commercial construction - and in employment too - due in part to budget boosts for new development projects and supportive funding conditions According to Tim Moore, Senior Economist at Markit, "Improving economic fundamentals led to a faster rise in commercial activity during March, while civil engineering growth eased sharply from the survey-record high seen amid the flood relief efforts in February." Yet more reasons to celebrate another successful year in the industry, then - which is precisely what The Hammers are all about too! Construction Computing readers get to choose which products, companies and teams they believe made the most impact during the last year, whilst a select group of judges peruse a list of submitted projects to come up with the most impressive of them in each of their categories. We’ve made a few small changes in the categories for this year’s awards, allowing us to include some which have previously been lacking and which should prove quite interesting. These are devoted to visualisation, analysis and sustainable applications. Nominations are now open and it is up to you, the readers of the magazine, to pick this year’s finalists. Now in their ninth year, the Construction Computing Awards have become a noteworthy date in the diary for the industry. This year’s categories are listed below, so please visit the website to register your nominations.
