Cloud service closes performance gap

Editorial Type: News     Date: 11-2014    Views: 2494

IES has launched its new Cloud service, ERGON, to enables users of its Virtual Environment (VE) technology to import, manage and interrogate real building profiles or schedules and use them in VE simulations

It enables users to utilise measured data from the actual building they're investigating to create profiles that enhance model calibration or use normalised benchmark data from other buildings of its type. The profiles can be used to improve building operational performance and help close the performance gap by bringing design models closer to reality.

"Being able to use real building data at the operational and design stage is a real leap forward," says Niall Gibson, Business Development Manager at IES, speaking at the company's London Faculty event. "Imagine not having to rely on NCM profiles, but actually using real building data," he adds. "Operational Model automates much of this and allows a much more efficient and effective workflow."

IES Founder and MD, Don McLean commented, "ERGON allows practitioners to take an integrated approach throughout the whole building lifecycle. Using real building data to enhance the calibration of operational models enables designers to make more accurate decisions about possible impacts and returns of different retrofit options."
