Viewpoint Construction Software acquires Mobile Computing Systems

Editorial Type: News     Date: 12-2014    Views: 2587

Viewpoint Construction Software has acquired Mobile Computing Systems (MCS), one of the leading providers of mobile enabled construction project defect management, plans and mobile forms for use within live construction project environments.

The MCS product, Priority1, offers contractors a flexible and powerful framework that can be used to re-engineer any paper-based process and manage day-to-day project operations like defect management, snagging/punch lists, quality control, auditing, compliance, and health & safety and environment through the power and simplicity of tablets.

“Modern contractors need to put the power of information into the hands of their field teams and tablet platforms enable this. Specifically, field-based applications let contractors collect, maintain and share project and field data with all of their teams,” stated Jay Haladay, CEO of Viewpoint. “With the addition of Priority1, Viewpoint continues to extend mobile capabilities across our entire product portfolio. The ability to gather, format, maintain and share field information among project stakeholders, as well as provide defect management and mobile form creation on the job site further meets contractors’ growing needs for field-based information and control. We are delighted that this acquisition also brings Viewpoint a new team of construction focused software professionals who will help us continue to define and build the future of construction software technology.”

Haladay continued, “By adding another UK based best-in-class construction software company under the Viewpoint umbrella, we reinforce our commitment to the UK construction software market. When 4Projects first became part of Viewpoint, we knew the UK market was an area ripe for our investment and expansion, and this is further evidence of our plans.”

“Everyone at MCS is delighted to be part of the Viewpoint family, and we are all excited by the opportunity and journey ahead of us,” said Richard Scott, MCS Managing Director. “It has been clear from the beginning of the endeavour, that our principles and values are aligned and after seeing the vision, energy and passion shared by everyone within the Viewpoint team, I have no doubt that this is a unique opportunity to join an exceptional organisation. Viewpoint is committed to the roadmap we have set out for Priority1, and by working together we gain access to unprecedented, industry leading technical capabilities, resources and experiences that will allow us to accelerate the delivery of the products and services that our customers want.”

The Priority1 product will be renamed as Viewpoint Field View and sold as an application within the Viewpoint For Project Collaboration and 4Projects’ product suites. Priority1 will continue to be sold and supported in the UK, and Viewpoint will also extend the product to North America and Australia. MCS team members, whose headquarters are located in Swansea, UK, will join Viewpoint and maintain their current operations there.
