Ultra-low latency data engine to enable 'near in-memory processing speeds' on large datasets

OCZ and Levyx Inc. have announced a partnership designed to enable real-time processing of very large datasets in distributed computing environments that currently use large quantities of expensive Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), with a new approach that significantly reduces the number of nodes needed to process these large workloads using much fewer SSD-intensive systems. Real-time access to terabytes of data is required in applications that include Big Data processing and analysis, Web 2.0, cloud computing, and financial services.

Based on its data processing technology, Levyx’s SSD-based platform processes very large datasets (many terabytes or larger) that consist of billions of data items (scalable to hundreds of billions). In order to help confirm this new all-SSD usage model developed by Levyx, OCZ will oversee testing and provide its industry-fast Z-Drive 4500 PCIe SSD Series, with the goal of validating how SSDs can be direct DRAM replacements in distributed architectures where ultra-fast, low latency in-memory processing speeds are required.

“As demand for immediate I/O responses in Big Data environments continues to increase, our ultra-low latency software paired with high-performance SSDs represent a better and more cost-effective alternative to traditional scale-out architectures that rely heavily on DRAM-constrained systems,” said Dr. Reza Sadri, CEO and co-Founder of Levyx Inc. “We are pleased to work with OCZ on this new usage model as our technology is specifically designed to leverage the latest in advanced SSD technologies and we’ll utilize the Z-Drive 4500 to deliver the enhanced performance that helps validate our technology.”
