A new online master's degree in cyber security, launched by Coventry University's Business School, aims to tackle a skills gap in UK employers' information risk management

The National MBA in Cyber Security, unveiled recently at a cross-party House of Commons event led by shadow cabinet office minister Chi Onwurah MP and supported by prime minister David Cameron, is aiming to provide training to individuals and businesses to help them manage online security threats.

Students of the distance-learning qualification – which can be studied part-time – will learn about the financial, legal and reputational risks related to cyber attacks, and how to make informed decisions around information security management issues. Professor Richard Benham, who founded the National MBA in Cyber Security in collaboration with Coventry University, said: "This is the first qualification of its kind and will start to fill a gap that exists in the education of our business leaders to address the commercial and human side of cyber security."
