In a regular look at results and key business announcements for suppliers into the Networking and IT market, Network Computing summarises the Editors selections

Software supplier Secunia and network security specialist Foursys has confirmed a new partnership. The Secunia product set provides Foursys with a solution to meet its customer vulnerability management requirements through application and operating system patching. James Miller of Foursys says, "Secunia extends and complements our existing security product portfolio… as organisations become increasingly aware of the necessity for vulnerability and patch management within the technology stack."

Commenting for Secunia, Victoria Bentham said, "The new partnership is an excellent opportunity …as we extend our footprint in the UK and Ireland. [Their] security focused, technically advanced and customer-centric approach is a great match..."

There is a lot of attention being paid to the power of data and its analysis, and Logicalis UK has announced the acquisition of Trovus, a provider of analytics dashboard solutions to business executives. Ed Charvet, Managing Director of Trovus will become Director of Information Insights at Logicalis UK and will lead the strategy, extending the portfolio of consulting, solutions and managed services including the company's Spatial Intelligence, wireless and behavioural analytics offerings. Commenting he said, "Trovus and Logicalis have partnered successfully for some time, giving clients the benefits of both highly focused Business Intelligence (BI) consultancy to define the best solution and the ability to then scale organisation wide using Logicalis' deep technical resources and global reach. The fit is a great one and positions Logicalis perfectly between the pure consultancy firms and the specialist vendors."

Valid has been discussing its recent partnership agreement with Masergy Communications. Masergy specialise in managed networking and cloud services and the agreement enables Valid to provide global managed networking and advanced security solutions to its enterprise customers. Masergy technology and world-class customer service have been validated by their best-in-class, 61 Net Promoter Score (NPS). Dis Valcq, Valid CEO and founder points out that, "This is fully in line with Valid's 'Stay Ahead' mission to enable our customers to excel through the use of innovative IT services and solutions." The Masergy SDN Platform allows the seamless connection of global offices, data centres and remote locations with a ubiquitous, high performance network that supports bandwidth on demand and quality of service control in response to changing performance requirements.

By the time you read this you may truly know whether two Ed's are better than none, but while it seems that UK tech job creation is achieving record highs, growth seems to be slowing according to a report from KPMG. The latest edition of the KPMG/Markit Tech Monitor in summary found that in the first quarter of 2015, UK tech companies report that new business volumes rose at the slowest rate since mid-2013, that tech sector hiring plans are on the up by over two-fifths with tech sector employment growing by almost one-quarter since 2010 and lastly that the UK tech sector now directly accounts for at least one million jobs.

Further research from Robert Half Technology seems not to argue that opportunities for IT professionals are on the rise. Apparently 94 per cent of UK organisations predict that IT will contribute to business growth in 2015 and that technology will play a primary role in improving customer transactional experience to deliver growth.

A definitive agreement for Singtel to acquire Trustwave has been outlined. Trustwave, a privately held information security company headquartered in Chicago, employs over 1,200 people and operates five security operations centers situated in 96 countries. Singtel has a presence in 25 countries and is publicly traded on the Singapore Exchange. Trustwave Chairman Robert J. McCullen said: "This strategic partnership …combines Singtel's robust information and communications solutions with Trustwave's industry-leading security technologies and managed services platform…" NC
