The Hammers II - 21st November - Novotel London Euston
Overview
The construction sector is very important for the UK economy.
It accounts for 10% of the UK's GDP and employs 1.5 million people. Construction
orders in the twelve months to June 2007 rose by three per cent according to the
latest figures from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory
Reform. Projects such as The Emirates Stadium finished in July 2006 on time and
on budget by one of the leading UK design and construction companies
demonstrates how their appropriate use of IT helped in achieving this and
contributed to them winning The Olympic Stadium project from the ODA earlier
this year.
The construction industry relies heavily on Information Technology
and both businesses and individuals now recognise that, if they are to stay
up to speed with changing construction processes, technologies and methods of
doing business, they have to constantly re-invest in their software and training.
Procuring IT software and related services, including purchase, training, maintenance,
upgrades and technical support can be a lottery with much investment wasted,
leading to problems of incompatibility and disappointment.
The Construction Computing Awards is where individuals and organisations will
receive industry wide recognition before an audience of their peers. The winners
will be elected by the readership of Construction Computing Magazine. The Awards
will showcase and reward the technology, tools and solutions for the effective
design, construction, maintenance and modification of commercial buildings,
residential and social housing and civil engineering projects of all sizes.
